**Welcome to the Roku Developer Program Category**

**What is the Roku Developer Program?**

The Roku Developer Program gives developers and engineers the tools, resources, and platform access needed to build and publish channels on the Roku OS, the #1 streaming platform in the United States. Whether you’re an independent developer building your first app or an engineering team at a major media company, the Roku Developer Program is your entry point to reaching millions of Roku households.

Enrollment is free, and once you’re in, you have access to the full Roku SDK, developer documentation, sideloading tools, and the ability to publish channels to the Roku Channel Store.

- Read out [Roku Developer Program overview](https://developer.roku.com/dev/docs/getting-started)

**Set up your developer environment:**

- [Activate Developer Mode on-device](https://developer.roku.com/dev/docs/developer-setup)
- Install the IDE of your choice. We recommend the [Brightscript plugin for VSCode](https://rokucommunity.github.io/vscode-brightscript-language/index.html)
- Review our [app certification criteria](https://developer.roku.com/dev/docs/certification-overview)

**A few tips before posting:**

- Search before you post, as many common questions about enrollment, publishing,
and certification have already been answered
- Include your account type and channel type when asking program-related
questions as it helps the community and the Roku team give you a more relevant
answer
- For urgent account-specific issues, use Roku’s official developer support
channels rather than the forum, as response times cannot be guaranteed here

**Stay in the loop**

The Roku Developer Relations team will use this category to share program
updates, policy changes, and announcements that affect developers. Follow this
