ACR available to developers / on Roku boxes?

Now that ACR is in use on Roku TVs, are there any plans to make ACR available to developers and on the Roku boxes?

Yes, Automatic Content Recognition. Earlier this year, Roku announced that ACR is in the newest software release, but only on Roku TVs, not the Roku boxes. And the ACR is only (apparently) used to allow Roku to make viewing suggestions. That is, they use the ACR to recognize content and recommend similar content available on other channels. There is nothing in the SDK that would allow developers to access the ACR functionality.
