Anyone successfully doing live streaming from a pro device?

We use a Viewcast Niagra GoStream encoder to a streaming server. I know MLB is offering live streams. Is there anything to look out for when you set up your channel? Thanks.

You would have to make a deal with Swarmcast to use their technology as currently it is the only way to use a live stream on the Roku.

Why is Swarmcast the only method for live streams? Looking at Swarmcast’s site indicates that they “leverages web-standard HTTP and standard rich media platforms” which sounds like if I can setup my own streaming servers I should still be able to get streams to the box.

Is there a licensing limitation or a technology limitation?

Why? That’s a question for Roku. It’s a technical limitation right now. We are waiting for it as well.

While we currently support swarmcast for live streaming, we will soon be supporting Apple HTTP Live Streaming.

I take this as great news! I should too… right RokuKevin?

I did a bit of reading up on this and it sounds like a perfect fit for the Roku DVP’s. Check out a good overall article about this here.

Also, here is a link. to the Apple iPhone Dev Center that currently uses this method.

Does anyone know any specific sites that have good content streamed via this method that may benefit from having a Roku channel?
