Are channel versions automatically updated?

Pardon for asking a question which might have already been asked (searched the forum for an answer but no avail):

Scenario

  1. Developer publishes a new channel app (public or private) versioned 1.0
  2. User Bob installs the channel the channel app v1.0 through usual means (channel store or private distribution)
  3. Some time later (several weeks) the developer publishes a newer version of the same channel app 2.0. The firmware and other requirements are exactly the same as in v1.0

Q:
a. Will the Roku player automatically download the newer version of the channel app (2.0) and “refresh” it for the user Bob or does Bob have to do something to o it manually? (e.g. reinstall it using the same procedure as in #2)
b. If the answer to the previous question is “it is not automatic”, is there something the developer can do to automate it? Or at least inform Bob that a newer version of the channel is now available and suggest Bob update to it.

It is automatic. Usually within 24 hours of an update being published.
