Cannot replace Splash

Hi… I cannot get rid of the original splash that was uploaded.. I have rebuilt several time to no avail. I have deleted the splash content and rebuilt, and there was no splash. I rebuilt with another splash and the old one came back.

In the forum search I’ve found several others with the same problem but no definite answers. The splash files are jpg’s… Do they need to be .png’s or .jpeg’s… There is a chance that the original WAS a .png… But it was also just first. ??

Maybe I should delete everything and start over..? Would that be a reasonable solution..?

Many thanks…

I think we’re going to need a little more information. When you say “original splash that was uploaded” what exactly do you mean? Uploaded where?
Have you changed the name of the splash image in your manifest? If not, does that make a difference?

Seems like a bit of an extreme solution.

I’m using intantTVchanel for building the pkg.. The original splash files, SD and HD, were uploaded to the splash inputs in the ‘theme’ area.
They were the proper sizes and they did appear where they were supposed to be… As do the ones I’m trying to replace them with.

The ‘packages’ as they were being refined were uploaded to the Roku pvt. channel.., and in general work fine. This is one of the things that is still not right.

I’ve rebuilt the itvc pkg several times, as in the op, while trying to replace the original splash but nothing has worked so far.

??

I think you’ll need to contact InstantTVChannel support for that.

Yes, maybe… But I’ve read some possibilities here that it could be something Roku is rejecting…
That’s what I’m asking about. Do you know for a fact that these splash screens can be .jpg’s..?
Or do they possibly need to be .jpeg’s or .png’s… ??

Thanks..

I have used both jpegs (.jpg) and pngs (.png) for splash screens without issue. If you’re asking if the extension can be “.jpeg” instead of “.jpg”, I’m not sure, but that should be easy to test by renaming the file.

Since you said it was showing the “original splash” screen, that sounds to me like the package isn’t being updated with the new images, which would be an issue on the InstantTVChannel side. There’s a slim chance, if the files have the same name, that the Roku could cache the old version, but that seems unlikely in this case. If that is the case, though, rebooting the Roku (unplug/replug) will clear the cache, so you could give that a try, if you haven’t already.

I have deleted the ITVC splash file names and rebuilt… Then the pvt. channel does not show the splash at all… So it would seem it’s not the ITVC build. ??
Cause I would expect it to be gone from both ITVC and Roku both at that point… ?? But when I rebuild with the new splash files., the original appears again.

I have rebooted several times… The original splash seems to have found a good solid home… :confused:

And yes I was asking about the specific extensions… That and using .png versions are what I’m going to have to try then…

You might need to go ahead and create a new channel on their system with the graphics you want to use.

I’m not familiar with that program, but can you access your manifest file?

if so, what do these lines say for your channel?

splash_screen_sd=pkg:/assets/…
splash_screen_hd=pkg:/assets/…
