Clear video buffer

My current channel allows the user to switch channels without exiting the channel being watched. Everything works with one exception. Once the new channel is selected I set the video player co ntentlist the screen goes blank for a second then the player shows the last couple of seconds of the current channel before loading the new stream. Is there anyway to clear the buffered stream so this doesn’t happen.
