As a complete Newbie to Linux, Brightscript and Roku, what is the recommended path to quickly learn to code an app for Roku. Is there a “hello world” app?

I develop sites in ColdFusion and PHP on the Mac (using MAMP).

Your help is greatly appreciate it.

There are several examples included with the SDK to get you started.

Look at the simplevideoplayer app included in the examples. Its one file and pretty straightforward.
