Please check the rev share column (M) from the SALES ACTIVITY spreadsheet download for Oct and Nov and see if the % if still 80% for all items. You can easily calculate what % of the sale is yours by dividing column L1 by column J1. This will give a fraction which should (and always has been) .80 or 80% in all of our reports for years. In Oct and Nov this is not what we’re seeing.
I see the same thing. For some sales, the Developer Rev Share is 0 when the transaction amount(s) aren’t, so if you get a few of those within the bundled sales (Transaction Count > 1) you’ll get a percentage < 80%. I don’t know what to make of it. I have a sale in October that (as far as I can tell) I received a push notification and shows up in the transaction report, but in the sales report the developer share is 0. It’s hard to match the sales report with the transaction report since the sales report lacks so much information and the push notifications and transaction report don’t report the developer share. The Payout Audit report (which I never noticed before) does show the correct developer share for the transaction that I think is the questionable sale in the sales report. I should check all the sales in November since it’s early in the month and I don’t have all that many.
I’ve always used 80% of the push notification amounts to verify the payments I receive, and they’re usually close, but the October payment won’t be received until the end of the year (if Roku doesn’t screw up again). Hopefully it’s just a glitch in the sales report, but it’s always troubling when Roku has these weird accounting issues.
It started happening last month here as well. The anomaly is that the % is decreasing considerably daily now since Nov 1. To make it easier to send screenshots to p.s. I added a formula column that computes the % of rev share based on the amount quoted in the report. If the actual payout is what they’re quoting, down to 40% now, then something is terribly wrong.
Please contact them with a shot of the Oct spreadsheet with something like I did that makes it easy for them to see. A % rev column can be added at the rightmost column that divides column L by column J for the entire month and you can clearly see what’s happening.
Thanks so much for this post! I am experiencing the exact same zero sum on my reports, beginning in October as well. I appreciate developers like yourself, sharing these type of issues and please keep me posted on any response you receive. I have attached a report example I just generated for November to verify this is the same issue you are seeing. Cheers!
Here’s something to check out. In the Sales Activity Report column L (Developer Rev Share), divide that $ amount by 80% of the actual cost of that product and you’ll get the number of sales that were calculated for payout for that day. It’s always a perfect integer which suggests that sales were left out of the calculation.
For instance a sale of 20 $9.99 products might report only 13 of those sales in the Rev Share column L. For us, we’re seeing down to only 40% of the total sales were calculated on some days. We surely want to hope that this is only clerical, but you have to contact Partner Success with your own reports so they can work on fixing it. I got a response back with a few questions which I answered about the Payout Audit, so hopefully the ball will get rolling.
Thanks you so much for the quick response :). I will reach out to the Partner Success team! Cheers!
I want to thank renojim and AHHD for caring. PM me and I’ll tell you what they said.
I got 2 responses about this bug, but I don’t want to discourage anyone from looking into shady reports. It’s your job to do your own due diligence and not wait on others. The reason I’m saying this is I’m shocked at the lack of responses and participation in these forums.
Thanks for following up. I have not yet received a response from support. I recall there was a significant internal downsizing last year that greatly impacted Partner Support and responses to technical issues.
Roku responded back that the issue has now been resolved. I can confirm that the Oct and Nov reports are fixed.
Yay! Yes, they responded that it was an issue they were looking into and I just checked the reports and everything has been fixed :). Thanks again for communicating this issue, it really alleviated the stress of not feeling isolated! Happy Holidays!
