Monetizing Banner Ads

Hi, I’m new to developing Roku apps. I saw a lot of information on how to incorporate video ads, but I don’t want to do that. I’d like to simply keep a banner at the bottom of some of the screens that gets content from an ad network. Also, I’m not that familiar with how all of that would work. But, 1) is it possible to monetize the banner ad and, if so, 2) what are the basic steps one would follow to do it (for example, which network, pseudo code, or something helpful in that regard).
