I have a http live streaming, and created a simple app using simplevideoplayer example.
Whenever I played it, roku lt box rebooted itself, looks like it crashed.

And it plays fine with quicktime, videolan and iphone/ipad.
I believe it is a serious bug, and hope it can be resolved soon. Thanks.

Causing a reboot instead of an error message certainly is a bug, however, looks like there is something wrong with your stream, regardless.
Can you keep that URL live for a few days, or, PM me a url that can be used for testing?
I don’t know if this is related to your problem, but some users in the General Discussion Forum have reported problems with HLS streaming that appear to have been introduced in the 3.0 firmware update. There is a new update in the process of rolling out, 3.1 build 1011, that one user reports as having fixed his HLS streaming problems. Perhaps you could try updating to 3.1 b1011 and see if it makes any difference.
Roku2 seems to be able to stream more effectively for HLS - at least more stuff plays for me.
