Is it okay with Roku to link to the splash screen on server? Having an issue with package size for Roku 1 so I moved my splash to server.

It’s probably not ideal, given that you want that image to display as fast as possible while your channel loads. The image doesn’t have to fill the screen resolution, remember; you can use a small logo that is centred. Also, try using JPEG for channel images if you can (the format works best with photographic style images) and experimenting with the compression settings. Depending on the style/content of the image, I’ve found that it is sometimes possible to dramatically reduce the byte size of the image with little or no noticeable degrading in visual quality.
I didn’t know it was acceptable to use jpg..thought it had to be png for splash but if so, then yes that will lower the size and correct the problem.

Even using PNG, you can set some graphics software to web-optimize the image, or use PNGCrush to see if it can get the size down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pngcrush
Thanks destruk. I got the graphic to finally compress enough after trying to fine tune some settings.
