I haven’t been able to find a user-accessible setting to insert a web proxy server between the Roku and the open internet. Any tips?
Thanks in advance.

Try http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/

That looks very useful.
But the part where I’m blocked is how to set the Roku to use the web proxy. Is there a programmatic option? Is it in the settings channel but I haven’t found it?
You would set up feeds that point to the web proxy. The webproxy would then forward the requests to your actual server that hosts the content.

So it wouldn’t be a proxy that the Roku was aware of, it would be a gateway?

Correct. The Roku player doesn’t directly support a web proxy, either user-accessible or programmatic.
