Using an IDE

Since BrightScript files are text, developers can use their Text Editor or IDE of choice for writing code.

What IDE(s) support brightscript? This would be extremely helpful… even more so if a supported IDE can let you preview your channel before sending it to the box.

None will let you preview your channel… there are no virtual roku programs out there yet.

At the very best, you would have syntax highlighting & pushing the code to the box. But I’m not sure about pushing the code to the box…

So, back to the first question: What IDE(s) support brightscript? Could I use Visual Studio Express? Or would I have to use something like Notepad++ and add the brightscript language to it?

Not sure if you’ve seen it yet, but have a look at this thread: http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=31199

Cheers

Thanks. I’ll look into it.
