I know this can be coded, but is anyone aware of any existing plugins (or in development) that may fit this bill?
While my channel is already coded to pull some graphics and media from an external xml, having a wordpress plugin on my site where I can enter the channel metadata and m3u8 playlist info to auto populate that xml would save me a ton of time, as I need to update both the website and roku channel by hand.
It may be. He goes by RobSMS here on the forums and may no longer be maintaining this service.
As an alternative, instead of driving your channel directly from Wordpress, think about using one of the Direct Publisher partners like JWPlayer who may be able to interface with your Wordpress instance and a Roku app.
If I convert my channel to direct publisher, this gives me MRSS access.
Rob has the WP Smart TV WP plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smart-tv/ which is VERY promising, although it doesn’t appear to integrate on individual existing posts on Wordpress, e.g. the user needs to create a second “movie” post. If anyone is familiar with Blubrry, I’m looking for that type of integration…a one stop shop on your blog post to add media for Roku.
Has anyone come across any other WP plugins that generate the MRSS feeds on a per post basis that direct publisher needs?
Or, if there is JSON integration with a GUI for WP, I’m open to that as well.
It already saves me hours. Add a video in WP, then point to your streaming location, upload your VTT CC file, BIF files, etc…and there you go. Your WP installation hosts the JSON that you can add to your DP feed.
In all honesty, I can add an entry to my JSON feed in under 5 minutes.
