Customers per device model

Hi guys,

There’s a few sound related limitations that are damaging our user experience and we are considering dropping support for classical models. However being out first application we do not know what market share that will translate to. If Roku 1, has a market share of 5% its easy to drop, if its 30% its a different matter. Has Roku / Can Roku share usage per country?

Thank you in advance

I think I saw rokujoel mention recently that there are something like a million classic player models still in use.

that’s a lot of potential viewers to block.

There are a bit less than 700k that are plugged in to electricity and connected to the internet. Of those, a bit less than 500k are actually used by anyone…
There are about 10 million devices in total in the US now.

Sounds about the same, but here’s a more recent quote from August 22nd…

usage is back up from around 350k active units (i.e. video streamed in last 30 days) to 500k actively used legacy units.

Many more legacy units are powered on, connected but are not being used.

Curiousity, how legacy is legacy, and what issues are you having? Is there a firmware version you can cite as the culprit in your problems?

^ Legacy boxes are first generation models running version 3.1xx firmware.
