Viewing History

Hi,

We would like to develop a 3rd party application to provide a means of tracking a person’s favorite TV shows and movies (viewing history) across all streaming platforms. Right now, when a person uses a ROKU device to watch TV the only app Roku provides to track some of your viewing history is “What to Watch”.

The “What to Watch “application was developed by Roku and not by an outside vendor and there does NOT appear to be any applications developed privately for the Roku platform that that provides an enhanced tracking and management of a person’s viewing history such as envisioned in our application idea.

The Roku “What to Watch” application is not optimized for a full pleasurable viewing experience and leaves the viewer having to reply quite often on memory on what shows or movies you have been watching and what streaming service it was on such as Netflix, Max, HBO, Paramount +, etc.

Does Roku ever plan to open this up for developers in the near future?

Thank You

No, this is not data that we can publish to outside developers. We also don’t allow channels on the Roku platform to link into other applications.

What about just users themselves?

I can view/manage my watchlist for The Roku Channel content through the website, but stuff that I add to my watchlist on my Roku device or through the mobile app is locked away? My own data? Lame.

I have no idea what you are even talking about?? Is this some kind of Roku blog post that you are referring to??
