Corona Virus Will Not kill me Vimeo will

Please help…Please. I have been working for 3-days with no progress.

I use to use Amazon S3 bucket for my video hosting. Here was my json file just a couple of days ago that worked great.

For price reasons, I went to Vimeo on Friday. I uploaded my videos but have struggled with what links to put in the url section where Amazon link use to be. First I went to distribution and copied link. However, it did not end in .mp4 i.e (https://player.vimeo.com/external/399557754.hd.mp4?s=e4909480c6606e77eaf494e868d969107b1ca0e7&profile_id=175) )

As a result, I went to the link above and right clicked the screen and copied video address which was (https://vod-progressive.akamaized.net/exp=1585055377~acl=%2A%2F1704196645.mp4%2A~hmac=ee68918fbd9e219ca95b08dfb0b5020800e22aab865fd04585295ac921aee956/vimeo-prod-skyfire-std-us/01/4911/15/399557754/1704196645.mp4)

And BOOM it worked…for like an hour. So I emailed customer service and they replied with the following email.

'Thank you for getting back in touch! I’m really sorry for the delay in getting back to you! We’re experiencing a high demand for support at the moment.

I’m really sorry for the confusion caused here.

The direct video links that we provide are not meant to expire. However, these links will redirect to expiring direct video links when accessed by a browser. For security purposes, a unique token is appended to the end of the redirect URL. Each time you click on the original direct video link, a new direct video link should be shown, with a new token.

When sharing direct links, we always recommend double-checking that the link begins with https://player.vimeo.com/external/ as opposed to https://fpdl.vimeocdn.com/ or https://gcs-vimeo.akamaized.net. When pasting a direct link into another application, you’ll want to make sure that the original direct link stays in tact. If the fpdl.vimeocdn or gcs-vimeo.akamized.net link is shared and opened in a browser after the active time has elapsed, an error message will appear. The player.vimeo/external URL will automatically transfer viewers to an active link and will never expire.

None of this is working for me. Do I need to change the file type on my json above? Please please help!

Hi,

I believe that the problem is not the vimeo but Roku direct publisher, because I use the same link of vimeo in a Amazon Channel and it is working normally, also when I put the same vimeo link in an SDK channel it also loads, only Direct Publisher that is unable to update the feed.

There are a couple of other blogs with the vimeo issue - no solutions yet. Both Roku and Vimeo have responded with a canned, unhelpful answer to the tickets I’ve submitted.

I am just moving my files off Vimeo and trying Pcloud, at the suggestion of someone who does more of this than I do. Upload to the Public Folder and use the direct link. I’m waiting for Roku to refresh the Feed Status to see if this worked. Good luck!

I just received this message:

Hello,

Vimeo believes to have found the issue to the Direct Publisher feed error issues. In fact, we’re already seeing many feeds successfully ingesting for previously-published channels. Feel free to check on-device and in the Developer Dashboard (under Feed Status) to see if your content is appearing successfully.

We will update you once Vimeo has officially confirmed the fix on their end. We hope to do so in the next day or two.

I received the same message. Checked Roku - the feed status is now checked green, but the detail still shows the Vimeo file with the “url unreachable” message. Maybe it hasn’t updated yet.
