Video Error -6 with Widevine DRM on Roku Device (Protected Content License Error)

Hi everyone,

I’m facing issues in my video player when trying to play DRM-protected content using Widevine DRM. The playback fails with the following error:

Video Error: -6 – Protected content license error
<Component: roAssociativeArray> =
{
category: “drm”,
clipid: 1,
dbgmsg: “buffer:loop:unset:DRM exception: Http error 403: extra: content_id:1: etype:buffer: num_keys:0: num_lic:1”
}

Details:

DRM: Widevine
Regular/non-DRM content plays fine
Issue occurs consistently on protected content
I’ve already restarted the device and checked for updates, but the issue persists
Looking for help with:

How to confirm if this is a license server (HTTP 403) issue or device DRM compatibility?
How to check if Widevine DRM is properly supported on the device?
Any recommended troubleshooting steps for error code -6 in the Roku video player?
Thanks in advance for your guidance!

HTTP Error 403 is “Forbidden”, indicating a failure to get DRM credentials from the server. This could be a problem with the payload sent by device or a problem with server configuration. Have you tried using the Roku Stream Tester tool on the stream?
